German language G-Data help needed

Hi,

Elderly Germans living in abroad have blocked their MSIE Internet access with G-Data Internet Security 2007

G-Data Internet sercurity 2007 is in german and I don't know german language.
Windows Vista in german too.

Can anyone assist how to remove Internet Explorer from firewall's blocked list?
I have worked many hours without any success with this problem.
Called yesterday even to G-data central in Germany and they gave me a wrong support phone number twice ... and when I tried to call 3rd time my number was blocked! (And I just had asked politely they support number!).

But I still need someone to help as owners don't know English and can't translate.

maybe it could be helpful to reset G-Data's settings. Just found this in another forum:

Starte G-Data => klick oben auf FIREWALL.
Rechts auf REGELSÄTZE.
Die angezeigten Sätze im rechen Fenster markieren.
Rechte Maustaste => Bearbeiten (ProfiDialog) =>
Button Zurücksetzen.
Dadurch sollte sich G-Data wieder in den Urzustand versetzen. Alle im Lauf der Zeit gelernten Regeln, automatisch oder manuell, sind allerdings futsch.

You might copy this text/link and send it to those elderly Germans.
Hope they'll succedd in restoring their IE internet access. (If they reset G-Datas's settings, all rules that have been created automatically or manually so far are unmade.)

REGELSÄTZE is present, on the right are 4 options
1. direkte verbindung mit dem internet - ja
2. nicht vertrauenswürdige netxwerke - ja
3. vertrauenswürdige netxwerke - nein
4. zu blockierende netzwerke -ja

when I select on and click BEARBEITEN opens regel assistent

There is an selected option Auch in Zukunft den Regel-Assistent starten (seems to be an assistent which I doubt i need now?)
and in a window Was möchten Sie tun?
where is also Internet Explorer.

No RESET button or something

when I select MSIE and WEITER and set manually ieexplorer.exe, it still doesn't work.

MSIE works only, from taskbar G-Data icon ->Firewall ausschalten 5 min - Neustart, and then I get Vista warning about missing Firewall. But after restart there is the same problem as expected.

Well, now I found more advanced Regelsatz menu with program list ...
ieexplorer was selected and green ... looked like with correct settings

selected ieexplore.exe and Löschen -> ja
I hoped that it clears the msie rule and when starting msie, G-data asks again if msie can access internet, but it didn't happen.

Now created somehow a new rule ... but still Internet explorer while green can't access Internet.

I've described your problem in German below. Maybe one of the other forum users who knows G-Data better than I do has an idea to solve it.

Den Tipp, den ich ihr oben gab - nämlich alle Regelsätze zurückzusetzen, kann sie nicht befolgen, weil sie die Option nicht findet.

Jetzt ist sie gerade ein Stück weiter. Der Reset hat wohl geklappt, aber sobald sie den IE startet, soll eine neue Regel erstellt werden. Das hat sie ihn wohl machen lassen, aber ins Netz kommt sie noch immer nicht.

I just hate to tell people that they have investigated money to a product, which most likely they have to throw away now.
First, we tried to get support from G-Data directly, but they didn't replied at all.

Now I'm afraid, that there isn't any easy solution, how to restart G-Data rules.

You'll find a German guide and some snapshots how to reset the firewall, and if those Germans are with you, have them read this themselves.

G-Data default settings still didn't work.
Finally I fetched G-Data installation CD and serial from owners and uninstalled and reinstalled it.
It seems to work now.

All is well that ends well. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and the owners that it will continue working.

Ergänzende Info: Problem scheint im Moment durch De- und Reinstallation der Software behoben.
