Linux in der VMWare

Hallo!

Ich versuche Linux in der VMWare (Version 3.2 für Windows) zu betreiben. Installieren lässt es sich problemlos, aber sobald ich es aus dem Bootmanager aus starten will erscheint die VMWare-Fehlermeldung Internal monitor error. Es steht noch dabei, dass das mit der unvollständigen Implementierung von Physical Address Extension zusammenhängen kann. Dabei sollte es aber laufen, immerhin bietet beim Anlegen einer neuen VM das Programm explizit das Gastsystem Linux an. Ich habe es mit SuSE 8 und 9 probiert. Beide verursachen das gleiche Problem. Knoppix funktioniert hingegen, aber ich hätte dennoch gerne ein normales Linux in der VM.

Hat jemand eine Idee?

Diese anleitung ist für Suse 8.1, ich weiß nicht ob es unter 9.x funktioniert.

SuSE Linux 8.1 installs a PAE-enabled kernel by default on hosts with Pentium 4 processors. To select the non-PAE-enabled kernel, complete the following steps.

1. Use the arrow keys to select Software, then press Enter.
2. Press Tab until you reach Detailed Selection, then press Enter.
3. Press Tab until you reach Filter, then press Enter.
4. Use the arrow keys to select RPM Groups, then press Enter.
5. Use the arrow keys to select System, then press Enter.
6. Use the arrow keys to select the k_smp kernel package, then press the
minus key (-) to delete it. Press Enter to confirm the deletion.
7. Use the arrow keys to select the k_dflt kernel package, then press the
plus key (+) to select it. Press Enter to confirm the selection.
8. Press Tab until you reach OK, then press Enter.
9. Press Tab until you reach Accept, then press Enter to continue the
installation.
