Ich habe leider ein Prob mit meiner Longhorn installation!

Ich habe mir von einem Bekannten die DVD (orig) ausgeliehen und wollte es mal als Virtual Machine aufsetzten!

Anscheinend kann Longhorn mit dem Festplattenformat nichts anfangen!?

Beim Setup folgenden Fehler:

The mass storage device drivers that were loaded from floppy during the boot process need to be loaded again now to complete the setup process.

Please insert the floppy disk containing the drivers to be installed and select continue

Gibt es denn vielleicht bei VMWare einen Tipp, wie man die virtuelle Festplatte anfassen kann/muss?
Mir ist gerade eingefallen, dass man die Festplatte auch erst formatieren könnte?
Nutzt das vielleicht etwas?

Answer:
VMware has observed that Windows Longhorn build 5048 does not install in a virtual machine with a new, blank virtual disk (for example, with a newly created virtual machine). This problem has also been observed with physical hardware.

To work around this problem, do one of the following:

Install the operating system in an existing virtual machine (or a full clone or copy of a virtual machine).
Create a new virtual machine and replace the virtual machine?s disk file (.vmdk) with a copy of a disk file from an existing virtual machine. It may be necessary to delete the existing partition during the installation.

Note: You may need to increase the size of the virtual disk to avoid an error related to insufficient space. Refer to the operating system documentation for more information

Wenn ich das rcihtig verstehe, soll ich eine neue virtuelle Maschine Longhorn erstellen, dann die Longhorn.vmdk durch eine andere *.vmdk z.B. Windows2000.vmdk (also funktionierendes Windows) ersetzen!?
Also benötigt Longhorn eine existierende/gefüllte Partition zum überschreiben/formatieren/erkennen!? 

mhh könnte ja klappen...

So schauts aus... wie gesagt... die Unterstützung ist noch megaexperimentell, da ja Longhorn selbst noch eine Riesenbaustelle ist. Ich denke das die ersten Betas von Longhorn besser unterstützt werden.

Die Installation hat zwar lange gedauert, aber ich bin gestern Abend/Nacht damit durchgekommen!

Longhorn braucht nach dem kopieren der Dateien ca. eine 3/4 Stunde um sich selbst zu konfigurieren.
Ganz schön übel...aber sieht gut aus ;)
