Hi *,

Antwort vom US-Support:

Hi Everyone,

As it turns out, we now have a small handful of users that have reported this issue to us, and the common denominator seems to be Citrix implementations. However, not all Citrix implementations are having these issues either. Unfortunately, we we have no idea what's causing this to occur. However, there are many errors out on the Internet, that reference this exact same function and library. So we have to believe it's something outside of our software that's causing this issue to occur.

Also, since we cannot duplicate this behavior in our test lab, we would like to request some help from each of you out in the field that can duplicate this behavior. Because if we can duplicate this behavior, and there is an issue , we can fix it.

However, the first thing I would like for you to do is locate your current DameWare Development installation folder (typically C:\Program Files\DameWare xxxxx) and then make a copy of this entire folder somewhere else on your machine, possibly on your desktop, for backup purposes.

Once this is done, please download the DNTU5-0-1-0_Citrix.zip file from our website and unzip it to your DameWare Development installation folder on your local machine replacing all existing files.

(macmewes) </Link deleted>

Please note that this hotfix applies only to the latest release and could produce unpredictable results if used in conjunction with older versions.

Please let us know if this solves the issue or not.

Thanks Again,

Hi Everyone,

With regard to this error message, The procedure entry point I_RpcExceptionFilter could not be located in the dynamic link library RPCRT4.dll., we definitely don't like that this is happening.  But after researching this issue on our end (as much as possible), it appears this issue is out of our control.  It appears to be related to something within certain Citrix implementations, but not all Citrix Implementations, because our Citrix expert in Denmark (Peter Vang - [email protected]) cannot reproduce this behavior.

So here is a few key points on what we have found so far:

1.  The error is not occurring in our program, it's occurring in Citrix.  And from the screen shots & event log entries we received it appeared to be in relation to the ICAST.EXE Client.

2.  Our software absolutely does not directly call the I_RPCExceptionFilter Entry Point, nor does it directly require this entry point in any way whatsoever.

We verified this by asking one of our customers with this Citrix error to send us their RPCRT4.DLL file for examination, and we verified the I_RpcExceptionFilter procedure did not exist in their DLL file.  Then we took a Windows 2000 Server at our facility and upgraded it with all the latest Service Packs and hotfixes from Microsoft, and make sure the version of the DLL was exactly the same as the customer sent us, and it was exactly the same.

We then proceeded to run DNTU & MRC version 5 on this machine, and even though the entry point did not exist, we did not receive any error messages at all.  The software ran perfectly fine.  Therefore, once again this behavior points back to something in the Citrix implementation.

3.  Many of you have reported that this error only occurs with version 5.  When you revert back to version 4 everything works fine.  However, there is no difference in the modules that are loaded between these different versions of our software.  So again this points to some type of external issue on these implementations.

4.  From what we can gather, this only appears to be happening when the Operating System on the Server itself is Windows 2000 SP4 in conjunction with Citrix MetaFrame XP FR3 SP4.  Because we actually have one customer that has problems with this specific setup, but then it works fine on their other Citrx implementation running 2003 Server SP1 with Citrix Presentation Server 4.  Also, just FYI, the version of their RPCTR4.dll file is 5.0.2195.7020 on their Windows 2000 Server and it's version 5.2.3790.1830 on their Win 2003 Server.

5.  Another thing to make note of is that I_RPCExceptionFilter Entry Point does not seem to exist in any version of RPCRT4.DLL under Windows 2000.  However, it does appear to exist within the RPCRT4.DLL file under Windows XP and above.

6. However, one other thing we would like for you to try is to complete remove all DameWare Development software from being a published application on this Citrix server implementation.  And then republish this new version of the software from scratch, to see if this possibly resolves any issues.

Unfortunately, at this point we are completely stumped and we're not sure what else we can do.  Except to ask for you to please contact Citrix with this information to see if they have a resolution for you.  The developers at Citrix are welcome to download a copy of the software from our website, and if they require any additional information we will be happy to provide them with anything they need.

We would greatly appreciate any feedback you can provide on this issue, or any progress that you are able to make.

Best Regards,
Support Staff
