KDE unter Suse Linux 9.1 starten

Hallo,

ich bin ein absoluter Linux-Anfänger (Suse 9.1) und habe folgendes Problem:
ich kann den KDE Desktop nicht starten.

wenn ich den Befehl ?kde? eingebe bekomme ich folgende Meldung:

/usr/X11R6/bin/kde: line 226: mkfontdir: command not found

Was heißt das, bzw. wie kann ich den KDE Desktop starten?

Hi!

Ich versteh auch net viel von Linux, aber dein X-Server (der für die grafische Oberfläche verantwortlich ist), lässt sich nicht starten, evtl. bei der Installation falsche Daten für die GraKa/den Bildschirm angegeben? Mit dem Befehl xconfig kannst du den X-Server soweit ich weiß nachträglich konfigurieren...

Zum Vergrößern anklicken....

Naja, unter SuSE sollte es mit sax2 einfacher von Statten gehen. ;)

Hallo,

Hab's mal ausprobiert:

bei ?xconfig? kommt:
?command not found?

bei ?sax2?:
SaX2: Invalid runlevel for console mode#
SaX2: Please switch to runlevel 3 first

init 3

SaX2: abort...

was heißt denn das nun, bzw. wie kommt man in ?runlevel 3??

Steht doch da!

init 3 in einer Root-Konsole wechselt zum Runlevel 3!
Ein Blick in die mitgelieferten Handbücher schadet im Prinzip auch nie!

Also,

hab jetzt init 3 eingegeben. Soweit ich das verstanden habe komme ich damit in runlevel 3. Dann habe ich sax2 eingegeben und habe eine Meldung bekommen: irgendetwas mit card not found. Ich soll unter nachsehen. Die Datei existiert aber nicht! Was jetzt?

P.S. Wie komme ich eigentlich in die Handbücher unter Linux?

Hi,

wenn sax seinen Dienst versagt, probier's mal so:

- als root einloggen
- init 3
- cd ~
- XFree86 -configure
- XFree86 -xf86config ~/XF86Config.new

Wenn der X Server dann gescheit tut, musst du noch die config umkopieren:

- mv ~/XF86Config.new /etc/X11/XF86Config

hab das mal ausprobiert, es klappt aber immer noch nicht.


Also:
Mit root anmelden, ?init 3?, ?cd ~? ist kein Problem.


bei ?XFree86 -configure sagt Linux mir:

?Fatal server error:
Module load failure?

und dass ich das Problem Suse melden soll.


dann bei ?XFree86 ~xf86config ~/XF86Config.new?:

?This is a pre-release version of XFree86, and is not supported in any way.
[...]
(EE) Unable to locate/open file: ?root XF86Config.new?
[...]
Couldn't open RGB_DB ´usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb`

Fatal server error:
Cannot run in framebuffer mode. Please specify busIDs for all framebuffer devices?

und dass ich das Problem Suse melden soll.


und bei ?mv ~/XF86Config.new /etc/X11/XF86Config?:

?mv: cannot stat ´/root/XF86Config.new`: no such file or directory?


Soweit ich das jetzt verstanden habe hat das mit dem XFree86 konfigurieren nicht geklappt und deshalb konnte ich die Datei nicht kopieren.
Was denn jetzt?

Du hast keine einzige X Schrift installiert.
Du solltest unter YaST die ganzen Schriftarten nachinstallieren.

wo bekomme ich denn die Schriften her und wie installiere ich sie?
